Fireworks image

The theme for my image is the places that I have been. My photos came from openphoto.com and from creativecommons.com. I used 5 layers in it, and I used the following filters and effects:

Miami- adjust color
NYC- motion blur/ increased brightness
places- find edges
Las Vegas- Gaussian blur
San Fransisco- sharpen more

Also, for the Miami picture at the top I changed the opacity to 86 and the opacity of the San Fransisco image to 83.

Our Podcast

Our great podcast!

We used fade in and fade out. The ocean sound came from findsounds.com. We both recorded our voices at different times and then used the ocean sound in the background.

Security and Flash Drives

In the article, "Tiny flash drives improve their security," by Ron Harris, an Associated Press Writer, he gave a review of two new flash drives and a new software that help protect users. These new devices have extra security features that make only the owner have access to important documents. Out of the three products he gave: Pocket Safe, IronKey, and TrueCrypt, I think i like the features and how easy IronKey is. Although, it is the most expensive out of the three, it is password protected, has it's own Firefox browser, and has large storage space.
I think in today's time, security is a very important feature for anything that stores important information. Since the world revolves around computers and technology now, it is crucial that everyone keep their private information and documents safe and protected. I will definitely look into this product and possibly the TrueCrypt free software to protect my flash drive information!

Obama on iPhone

With only a month until the election, the Obama iPhone application was announced on October 2, 2008 according to The New York Times online. It has the typical news about the candidate, position papers, and campaign videos. A nice addition to it is that it provides users with information on local events and near-by recruiting volunteers. The best feature of this application, in my opinion, is that it organizes and identifies people in your address book who live in swing states. This allows the user to call his or her friends to tell them to vote for Senator Obama.
It's crazy how much of the Presidential election revolves around media and technology. I personally think that this application for the iPhone is great! If i had an iPhone, i would definitely put it on there. I think it is really interesting how the Obama campaign is using this application as publicity and marketing. The people who put this Obama application on their iPhone, will then be a campaign volunteer if they spread the word of Obama to their friends in the swing states.
